My post/jewelry looks too long/short

It’s time to downsize/upsize! When pierced initially most piercings are done with a longer post length to accommodate for swelling from the new piercing. Typically swelling will dissipate in a couple months. Your piercing will appear long. This is a good thing! It means that you’re healing. You should get a shorter post more fitted to allow for a smoother healing process.

Sometimes piercings can swell more than anticipated. If you feel like your jewelry is pinching or too short, you need longer jewelry to accommodate for the extra inflammation.

Oh no, I’m moving! Where should I go to downsize my fresh piercing?

The Association of Professional Piercers has a live map of all APP Member shops. Visit this to find a piercer in your upcoming neck of the woods.

When is it time to downsize my jewelry?

After a couple months swelling and inflammation should go down. Once you feel you have a good amount of wiggle room on your jewelry, feel free to pop in and downsize.

Do you offer tandem piercings?

No. At this time we do not offer this.

How long will my piercing take?

The piercing only takes a second. The whole process is only about 10-15 minutes. Appointment times are a half hour to accommodate for all your questions, concerns, and plans with your piercing.

Can my brother/sister/cousin/aunt/uncle/grandma bring my kiddo in for a piercing?

No. Please see this page for all of our guidelines.

Can I bring in my own jewelry to get pierced with?

If the jewelry is purchased from us we can potentially use it in a new piercing. It largely depends on length and fit.

Jewelry must be dropped off 24 hours in advance of your appointment so we can properly sterilize and prep your jewelry. When you bring your jewelry in 24 hours before, we can verify if we can use the jewelry for your piercing.

How long before I can go swimming?

Submerging any healing piercing is not advised. It does not matter if it is a lakes, river, lap pool, jacuzzi, or even baths. Showers are OK though!

How long before I can change my jewelry?

This can vary based on the type of piercing and your body. All piercings have different healing timeframes. We need to wait until they are healed before you change jewelry regularly.

Here’s some general timeframes for most popular piercings:

  • Anchors: 4-6 months
  • Ear Cartilage: 9 -12 months
  • Ear Lobes: 4-6 months
  • Eye Brows: 4-6 months
  • Nostril: 6-8 months
  • Septum: 2-3 months
  • Lips: 4-6 months
  • Tongue: 2-3 months
  • Nipples: 6-9 months
  • Belly Button:  6-9 months

How Your Jewelry Works

The APP has put together a great video that goes into detail about how different kinds of jewelry, how they work, and how to do some self-service if you’re too busy to come see us.
